O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
I’ve been meaning to make a post for a few days now: really, this post was supposed to be written on the 1st but…time is a slippery thing these days. The 8th is just as good as any other day.
So, let’s get into October together.
October is one of my favorite months. It heralds the start of Autumn, which is coicindentally, one of my favorite seasons. It also welcomes a cooler time of the year and kicks of sweet potato season, which is just like, the most delicious time of year.
Autumn also signals a lot of change for me: it’s one of the easiest times of year for my physically, as I don’t have to content with my asthma rearing up in Winter nor my difficulties with Summer Season Affective Disorder (SAD). However, Autumn also marks the beginning of my struggles with my Winter SAD, which often manifests in a lot of weariness.
Still, I like to think of Autumn as my special time: three -sometimes four- months of mental peace and really crunchy leaves.
As I said above, I’d planned to post this on the 1st, in large part because I wanted to kick the month off with something nice. Instead, it’s now the 8th, and I still don’t have anything special to write.
I think that’s sometimes just the nature of blogging: sometimes, you’ve got a lot to say. Sometimes, you have nothing. Since I have nothing, what I’ll do instead is give you a quick update on my first week of work this month. Let’s do it in a list so this post stays short.
Since the beginning of the month, I have (in no particular order):
- Recorded two entire Chatty AF podcast episodes in one day
- Edited a podcast episode for a friend
- Applied to do some virtual substitute teaching
- Finally decided on a bunch of articles and features for a lot of places
- Became a part of 100 Word Gaming
- Became a freelance QA for a company (more on that in a post later today!)
I think that about covers it. Now…time to get back to enjoying Autumn. (Also, I still having things on my list to finish. Adulthood doesn’t wait!)
If you like what I’ve got to say, want to support my reviews, or just generally want to support my ongoing creative and professional endeavors, please consider buying me a nice cup of Ko-fi or donating to me via PayPal.
Every dollar allows me to sustainably and healthily do the work I love, all while sharing it with you for free. Thank you in advance for your on-going readership and support: it means the world to me.
